Changing How Change Happens

Some organisations struggle with change because they do too little of it. TPT Retirement Solutions had the opposite challenge: change was happening everywhere.

As a leading UK pensions provider, managing workplace pension schemes in one of the most heavily regulated environments in financial services, TPT was juggling multiple change initiatives at once. Each one mattered. Each one was being driven by capable, committed people. But each one was also being delivered in its own way, with its own approach to how change got started, who owned what, and how new ways of working actually took hold.

The cost of that inconsistency was subtle but real. Roles blurred. Delivery varied from one initiative to the next. And the teams navigating complex change carried more pressure than they needed to, because every project meant working out the rules from scratch.

The instinct in this situation is often to buy a methodology off the shelf and mandate it. Fluxion took a different route. We started by properly understanding how change was already being delivered at TPT: what was working, what wasn't, and why. Then, rather than writing a playbook for the organisation, we co-created one with it, shaped around TPT's culture and the realities of its operating environment. A playbook people would actually recognise themselves in, not a binder that gathers dust.

Just as importantly, we didn't stop at the document. We provided targeted coaching and practical tools, working alongside teams as they applied the new approach in live transformation work. Confidence in a new way of working isn't built in a training room. It's built the first time someone uses it on something that matters, and it works..

Today, TPT has a clear, repeatable model for delivering change, and something arguably more valuable: a shared language. When teams across the organisation talk about change, they now mean the same things, follow the same rhythms, and know where they fit. Delivery is more consistent, confidence is higher, and change lands more effectively and more sustainably than before.

The initiatives will keep coming. That's the nature of pensions in an evolving landscape. The difference is that TPT no longer has to reinvent how it changes every time it does.

Fluxion really understand the art of change. Not just the theory, they have been there. They blend great industry insight with pragmatic insight into how to practically apply the methods and where best to start. I would thoroughly recommend them. Paddy Lye – COO
